BABURAO saw old age as a time of ABANDONMENT and LONELINESS. The 80-year-old struggled to hold back tears as he recounted how his own family and loved ones let him down. After being diagnosed with paralysis, he was evicted from his home by his family, who did not want to care for him. But now he sees a glimmer of hope.

He appeared lost and helpless when AVESTA FOUNDATION first discovered him on the streets of Mumbai. He is now spending the last years of his life in dignity, thanks to the assistance of the Mumbai-based NGO. Baburao's problems are typical of those faced by crores of India's elderly, who have been neglected by the country's citizens.

There are numerous heartbreaking stories of elderly people who were neglected and rescued by Avesta Foundation for the rest of their lives. By donating to Avesta, you will be ensuring that more senior citizens and marginalised people receive adequate food, shelter, medical care, clothing, as well as love and affection.

Sadly, it is not uncommon to see such elderly people lying on the street, uncared for and starved. The goal of the organization is to improve the quality of life of these people. In India, children have traditionally cared for their elderly parents. However, the pressures of modern life, according to sociologists, are causing more elderly people to be abandoned.

Our vision

At Avesta, we anticipate that by the end of 2022-23, the total number of adopted deserted senior citizens will have increased from 15 to around 100. Depending on the resources we are able to mobilise, we hope to provide medical assistance to more needy people.

We are also on a mission to construct a cutting-edge “Shelter Home” outfitted with all modern amenities so that seniors can spend their second innings in comfort and dignity, free of all worldly worries and anxiety.
