We are the victim of society's selfishness. Milked dry is an apt phrase to describe their condition. Old cows that can no longer be supported find their way to an uncertain death, whether by abandonment and neglect or the slaughterhouse. On the other hand, farmers sometimes sell cows in anticipation of the inevitable abductions sweeping rural India. 

What cows suffer today, the rest of us will suffer tomorrow. The times dictated by economic want and a throwing away of burdens will lead to suffering at a mass scale. It is all the more poignant to consider that a cow is never useless in the real sense; cow dungs are fuel, cow urine is a component of Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF), cow carcass renders the soil fertile beyond means. 

Pandemic, too, has wreaked havoc on cows, calves, and bulls. Hence, in late July 2021, after conceptualizing the need for this social service, we began building the Gaushala. Currently, we house nearly 100 animals. But we are aware that the problem is much more insidious. In only one station of one part of India (Dibrugarh, Assam), there lie 37 cars that were smuggling cows. As mentioned before, we also take old cows off the hands of the owners. These cows are already psychologically weak due to trauma and a broken heart. We aim to provide them with preventive care and regain their trust enough that they can live out the remainder of their days happily. For that, we require a shelter of 1000+ capacity, a sprawling area of 20 acres, fresh fodder, and of course, the license to roam. Our ultimate goal is to create a judgment-free zone where anyone can come, meet the cows, feed them, and spend time with them. These overwhelmingly sentient, gentle, tender, and affectionate creatures have a lot to teach us about being human. If need be, you can add your cow(s) to our shelter, and we will pick up where you left, no questions asked. 

We believe that this is our unique contribution to society and the rich civilizational heritage of Bharat. Kindly help us in giving a new lease of life to these mute and helpless animals. Their eyes are expressive enough to show us the stories of their past. We don't want them to go back to that or worse. Big or small, every amount that you send us will be tax-exempt and will add up towards the bright future of Shri Krishna's most cherished companions.
