HELP RAISE FUNDS TO PROVIDE RATION AND FEED THOSE IN NEED
Team Ignite is a group of dedicated volunteers who go the extra mile to help those in need. What started with one person engaging in relief work during the tsunami in 2004, the Chennai floods in 2015 and the Vardha Cyclone in 2016 has now grown into a full-fledged team after the Covid-19 pandemic started in India in March 2020. Our aim is to serve those in need with dignity, respect, and without any discrimination.
In the face of this global pandemic, countless lives have been uprooted, especially that of the vulnerable and marginalised. These mainly include those without shelters and workers from both within and outside the state, who have lost their jobs in these hard times.
Since the 23rd of March this year, we have provided 19000 food packets in Chennai and Tiruvallur, provided 39000 meals through 5 Amma canteens, distributed 9670 ration kits, engaged local tailors whose businesses had slowed considerably, in making close to 9000 masks, and also distributed 90 litres of sanitizer. During this time, we have also printed and distributed 10,000 leaflets on COVID19 awareness.
So far, funds were collected largely through personal networks of families and friends. However, as we urgently need to expand our relief work; we plan to deliver ration kits to an additional 2000 families, consisting of the following essential items:
Rice (7 kg), Atta/wheat flour (2 kg), dal (1 kg), oil (1 l), coriander powder (100g), mustard (50 gm) & red chilli powder (50 gm) besides soaps, detergents and sanitary napkins.
Each kit costing Rs 800 will take care of a family for one month.
We request you to please consider donating for this cause and share the message widely. Now is the time to reach out and help those in need. No help is too small.
Thank you for your support!
