Renovation of Sri Lakshmi Varaha Sannidhi owned by Sri Veeraraghavaswamy Devasthanam, Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu

An Appeal for Renovation for Sri Lakshmi Varahan Sannidhi of Sri Veeraraghava Swamy Devasthanam (Hereditary Trustee HH 46th Jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Math)

The first incarnation of Sri Vishnu is ‘Matsya’, the aquatic creature (fish). The second is a amphibian ‘Kurmam’ (tortoise), vertebrate that spends time on land and in water. Both are beings, living in the water. Next are the land dwelling life forms. The first incarnation in this is the terrestrial herbivore ‘Varaha’ (Boar). The Boar cannot live in the water but prefers marsh land near the water body. The abode of Sri Varahan in the bank of water body is unique on many counts.

Vishnu in this Avatar took earth out of water and placed it in the solar system. The Adhi Varaha Swamy Temple at Thirumala is located on the North of the Sri Venkateswara Temple on the Bank of the Swamy Pushkarani.

A century before , a stunning deity of Sri Lakshmi Varahan was found in the deep waters of Hrith-Thapa-Nasini, the holy temple tank of Sri Veeraraghava Swamy Devasthanam, Thiruvallur. The deity was consecrated in a temple on the western side of the Tank. Over the period the open area of the temple was occupied by unauthorized people, who constructed permanent structures around it. Poojas were irregular if not stopped. At the instance of the present Trustee of the Devasthanam, HH 46th Jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Math, steps were initiated to remove the unauthorized occupants. After prolonged legal fight, the supports of Concerned Department and local authorities, the occupants were vacated and their permanent dwellings removed. The temple stone structure has been badly dilapidated with the presence of well grown trees between granite.

These developments have been taken to HH 46th Jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Math. The advice of temple architects and the concerned authorities have been sought for renovation as per Agama and Government regulations. Project is estimated at approximately 50 Lakhs. No such projects are possible without the active supports of devotees and admirers. The Devasthanam appeals to everyone to donate generally and partake in this most divine and sacred project.
