Film Bugs & India Alive

Film Bug & The 'Vision'

FilmBug is a charitable initiative registered as Non profit Organization Vide No.: E-33610(M) Under Bombay Trust Act, 1950, that was formed with the philosophy of giving back. The idea is to teach professional film making with a purpose, which is otherwise an expensive skill to Less Fortunate, Homeless & Street Children through Film making workshops across the country.

Filmbug as an idea was a seed that germinated from the philosophy of volunteering and philanthropy .The founder who also studied film professionally used to volunteer at a boys street home for many years and while spending time with the kids realised the potential these children had to create and spin unique stories. The team Nameeta and Kapil who have been in the film business for over 25 years felt it was very necessary to allow children from marginalised sections to benefit from film education as it can be a big tool for children with fertile minds who are the future to use the films as tools of advocacy. The idea was to teach filmmaking in an intensive manner to children who are marginalised and less fortunate in order to allow them to think freely , empowering them to tell their stories , build team work , foster a feeling of being one and to bring about a silent change in their social situation.

Also we have established a talent pool wherein we would integrate them with the industry as a probable career as professionals .

Our Vision

Empower Less Fortunate Children To Tell Their Own Stories Through Celluloid -Creating A Change In Society Through These Films That Is Unimaginable.

An Opportunity For Children To Vent Their Emotions Through Their Stories Thus Enhancing Personality Development And Instilling Confidence

To Create A Platform & To Nurture And Spot Future Talent Thereby Building A Talent Pool.

To Create Awareness About The NGOs That Collaborate With Filmbug By Promoting And Positioning These Films In The Public Domain Across Various Platforms

In the last 1 year we have done 7 such workshops across India.

A Glimpse at Filmmaking Workshop at Asha Kiran, Dharuhera, Rewari Dist. (Haryana)

The Filmbug team conducted an intensive 15 day workshop with the brilliant and talented girls of Asha Kiran, Dharuhera in Haryana. The girls in this orphanage are from backgrounds which are challenging , very difficult and trying . Most of them are children of sex workers, abandoned , orphaned girls but their spirit and talent inspired all of us.They have written , directed and acted in 2 very powerful films with a message that is going to surprise the viewers.

These Films are then showcased in the India Alive Short Film Festival, held once a year.

Film Bugs wants to do atleast 12 such workshops in a year and show case atleast 24 Short Films in the India Alive Film Festival.
